The biking at our beach resorts can be as exhilarating or gentle as you like, with rides to suit all levels of ability. Our Club Active centres in Greece, Turkey and Croatia have a fleet of bikes for you to use free of charge and you can join guided rides or explore independently. The accompanied rides are often early morning or evening to avoid the midday sun, which also means you get the maximum time out on the water. Helmets and gloves are also included.
Standard bike hire is included in France, and in Jersey bikes are available to hire.
What’s the biking like? Club Active Galini, Greece
Lefkas offers a fantastic selection of rides for all abilities – including some challenging mountain biking, if you’re up for it. Some of the accompanied rides include:
• Nidri and the waterfalls (14km, 2hrs): Nidri is the closest town to Club Active Galini, with shops, bars and a beautiful waterfront. You can stop and admire the yachts in the harbour then follow the route up to the waterfalls.
• Round the island (80 km, 8–10hrs): the adventurous amongst you could ride around the whole island and get a true sense of accomplishment! This ride allows you to view all of the surrounding islands and take in the awesome scenery.
Club Active Tamarisk, Turkey Ortakent’s quiet roads offer lots of gentle rides and there are plenty of nearby villages to explore. Our favourite rides include:
• Coastal road: for wonderful views of the coastline, follow the road west to the small beach resort of Yashi where you will find a variety of restaurants and local shops.
• Bitez and Bodrum: heading in the other direction, up the hill to the right is the neighbouring village of Bitez, and after negotiating a few more hills you’ll make your way up to Gumbet and Bodrum.
Club Active Adria, Croatia The island of Brac offers a variety of easy rides through towns, olive groves and pine forests. We recommend these rides:
• Stup: climb up to 620m and discover the town of Stup
• Coastal road: head along the coast, through the shade of the olive groves and pine forest, to Splitska and Postira.
Jersey Biking in Jersey is a real pleasure and suited to all abilities. Green Lanes is a cycle network of 96 miles which are speed restricted. Cyclists and pedestrians have priority over cars and all traffic is restricted to 15 mph giving you many opportunities to discover the lush valleys and unspoilt coastline.
France The area around Moliets and Messanges has hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths (all relatively flat!). You can choose to upgrade to a mountain bike if you want to tackle more challenging trails
