Treat yourself to a body and mind enhancing Yoga Holiday in France
An opportunity to immerse yourself in the practise of Astanga yoga. Optional meditation will start the day, followed by a self-practise Astanga Vinyasa yoga session in the morning and a pranayama (breathing) or yoga nidra and a gentle stretch session in the afternoon (except transfer days). The practices provide a beautiful combination in developing coordination and inner awareness, lightness of body, strong grounding and flexibility.
We will also have kirtan (chanting) sessions in the evening. Chanting is a beautiful way to work with subtle energies, releasing emotions and bringing a calm mind and loving heart.
Some yoga experience is required although not necessarily in Astanga Vinyasa yoga. We work with small groups, max. 8-10 thus ensuring plenty of personal attention.
The accommodation is shared in the main house, or in the chalet or caravan on the land. All classes are optional.
Hatha yoga is a physical practice which combines yoga postures (called asanas), breathing exercises (called pranayama), relaxation techniques and meditation. Yoga asanas help to remove stiffness in the body, remove toxins and increase overall wellbeing. The breathing exercises strengthen the lungs, correct faulty breathing and increase energy flow. Relaxation and meditation increases your awareness of yourself and your surroundings, and calms mind and body simultaneously.
Beginners yoga
A week offering students with little or no experience an unique opportunity to explore this ancient system of hatha yoga. This discipline was introduced in the west in the 1950s and is a very powerful and effective regime to harmonise the body and mind. In today's society many people have discovered that hatha yoga is excellent way to maintain health, promote suppleness and to combat stress.
Detoxing the body is very useful as it removes toxins from the body, improves digestion, skin tone, clears excess mucus and encourages better functioning of all systems of the body. Toxins, overeating, wrong diet and sleeping habits all work to creating a sluggish system and leaves us feeling tired, heavy, bloated, stiff, with the mind agitated and irritated.
The traditional yogic cleansing techniques are called kriyas. In yoga we belief that most disease starts in the digestive tract so many of the kriyas cleanse the body internally in various ways.
Karma Yoga project
The development of the Centre is ongoing and we are looking for four karma yogis who would like to donate some of their time to help us create this small yoga community. We are looking for people with practical skills of building, gardening, cooking, and decorating . The accommodation and basic vegetarian food will be £50 per week and you’ll have an opportunity to live for a while in a place where people work together and live together with a spirit of selfnessness (seva). You are expected to participate in our daily program which consists of hatha yoga and karma yoga. Sundays are free.
