Experience an all inclusive New Zealand Fishing Vacation with Fishingin NewZealand. Fly fish for rainbow and brown trout by day and enjoy luxury lodge or wilderness river cabin accommodation by night.

FishinginNewZealand is a New Zealand-based company, owned and operated by New Zealanders who have one goal in mind: To deliver unique and memorable experiences that include and transcend the thrills of New Zealand river fishing.

We can organise a variety of wilderness fishing trips and adventures that include helicopter and fixed-wing fly-ins to famed wilderness fishing rivers such as the Mohaka, Rangitikei, & Ngaruroro. We can also organize one day or multi-day raft fishing trips.

On this page we'd like to introduce you to a unique wilderness fishing experience on the pristine Whanganui River, which has impressive stocks of both rainbow and brown trout, and which does not require a helicopter for access, meaning you get all the benefits of wilderness fishing without having to pay up to $NZ2000 for helicopter fees. This privately owned 3000 acre property offers approximately 6 kilometers (3 1/2 miles) of water, and while the water itself is not private, it is extremely difficult for anyone else to access - it truly is wilderness!

From Taupo, the drive to the entrance of the property is about an hour (or about 15 minutes from the small town of Taumarunui). By jeep from there, the journey into the riverside bungalow is another hour, with spectacular views along the way. By horseback, the cross-country journey takes about 2 hours. Kelvin will be your fishing guide, while non-fishing partners will be accompanied by Danny or Rocky on bush walks or horse treks through magnificent native forests, discovering our native flora and fauna and native birds, and if interested, learning about the history of the area and its people.

Your bungalow offers rustic yet comfortable accommodation, with a bedroom and private en-suite. Meals are prepared by your hosts under the unique patio, within a stone's throw of the river, while you enjoy a few cold beers or some fine New Zealand wine (liquor also available upon request).

Many of our clients are couples traveling together, one of whom may have no interest in fishing. While the options listed below do not include fees for non-fishing activities, all of these options offer equal opportunity for the non-fishing partner to enjoy their days and in the evening, to reunite over fine food and wine (or other beverages) and share the experiences of the day.

Some of our clients have never fly-fished before but have a desire to learn. Our Taupo and Southland options include skilled and patient instructors willing to offer tuition to novices and in all likelihood, deliver the exhilaration of your first wild trout caught on a fly rod.

We do not team you up with other fishermen. You have your own guide (1 guide can work with 2 of you as required) and your own itinerary for the day. You decide when you start and when you stop.

If you're interested in wilderness fishing, you will no doubt have discovered that in New Zealand, helicopter fly-ins are heavily promoted. These are fine for those willing to pay $NZ1500+ per day for chopper fees but what about less expensive alternatives? Be sure and take a look at our page on raft fishing, and our page on the wilderness fishing trip for a couple of exciting options.

Our all-inclusive package pricing is for 2 people (2 anglers sharing a guide, or 1 angler and 1 non-fishing partner) and includes accommodation, meals, beers and wines, guide services, all necessary equipment, photography and taxes.
